New Marbled Fabrics!

From hand-marbled papers, I am now designing marbled fabrics and using my long-time sewing skills to create a line of new products, starting with potholders. Each is an original work of art -- yet highly practical, with its double lining of Insulbrite -- made specifically to handle high temperatures. Customers may specify the marbled style -- peacock, feather, Chevron, nonpareil, spot, free form -- and the color theme. Please send me an email if you are interested in learning more.
Marbled Arts Essentials potholder in the traditional Peacock style. Potholders measure approximately 7-inches square.

Thanks to Prelude & Sea Road!
Thanks to all of you who stopped by the Book Charms booth at our two most recent craft fairs - at the Sea Road Elementary School and a Prelude craft fair at the Community Center on Temple Street in Kennebunkport. Book Charms greatly appreciates all of the wonderful comments from so many visitors -- and of course, a big thank you to everyone who made a purchase. Also thanks to Ellen and her team at the Community Center for all their hard work coordinating the Prelude show. Wendy from Sea Road did a fantastic job organizing the school's annual craft fair. Thank you so much for your devotion to craft people!

Thank you to all of you for stopping by the Book Charms booth at Kennebunk's Harvest Festival. Your wonderful compliments about Book Charms was so appreciated! If you expressed interest in our custom wine charms for an event -- wedding, baby shower, corporate event, upcoming birthday -- please give a call or email me at sdowns@roadrunner.com.
With our elegant custom wine charms, you can add the perfect accent to your place setting, while honoring a charity close to your heart. As we showed you, each miniature book wine charm includes the wedding details - names, location, date -- on page 1, and a tiny photo on page 8. The wine charms are wrapped in gorgeous decorative papers and slipped into an organza bag to match your place setting. Your tribute will then be recognized on the "thank you for attending" card, included in the bag with the wine charm. Here's an example:
"Thank you for making our day so special in every way. The greatest joy in our lives is the loving gift of family and friends. Please keep this tiny keepsake as a remembrance of the love we share -- and the cause we hold closest to your hearts. With our love always, Grace & Aiden." (A donation has been made in your honor to the American Cancer Society.)
Also, thank you to Home Accents in Scarborough, Maine, which now features Book Charms! Home Accents is an absolutely beautiful shop -- and its manager, Susan, is an expert Interior Designer who can help you create the home decor of your dreams!

New Marbled Papers - My Own!

I recently took a two-day workshop during which I learned to marble my own paper. Our instructor, Galen Berry, did a fantastic job demonstrating various techniques, then letting us try each out on our own. I left the workshop with close to 20 sheets of marbled papers, which I have been using to create Book Charms. Thank you, Galen, for sharing your expertise! Shown here is a sample of several of my papers.
More good news! We recently added a new product to the Book Charms line: Christmas ornaments, which also double as gift tags. Each is a book – approximately 1 ¾ inch X 1 ½” – and hangs from darling wire hangers created by my Etsy friend, Rae Lambert, in Ohio. They will be making their debut at various craft shows this holiday season, including the Friends of Well Library show, the Pumpkin Festival in Saco, Sea Road Holiday Fair and during Christmas Prelude in Kennebunkport.
